SMS Multi-Factor Authentication serves as a supplementary security measure, providing an extra layer of protection for user accounts. It operates as an alternative to the existing Authenticator App, ensuring enhanced account security through the utilization of SMS-based verification codes sent to the user's phone.
How to Set Up SMS Multi-Factor Authentication
On the Security tab, you will see “SMS Multi-Factor Authentication”
Click the toggle button to begin the setup process
After selecting the toggle button, the overlay will appear, asking you to input your phone number
Enter your phone number and select the button “Next”
A one-time code has been generated and sent to the phone number you provided in the previous step. Please check your incoming text messages for the code
If you entered an incorrect phone number, you can always go back and enter a different one by clicking the “Back” button
If you entered the correct phone number but did not receive a code, you can request a new one by clicking the “Resend Code” button
Enter your one-time code in the designated field and then click the Verify button
Upon successful verification of the code, a success page will appear, signifying the completion of the setup process and the activation of your SMS Multi-Factor Authentication. Click the “Finish” button to return to the Security tab
On the Security tab, the toggle button for SMS Multi-Factor Authentication is now enabled
During your next login attempt, you will be prompted to utilize SMS Multi-Factor Authentication to secure access to your account.
How to Use SMS Multi-Factor Authentication When Signing In
Once SMS Multi-Factor Authentication is configured, you will be prompted to use this method during your next sign-in attempt. After entering your email and password on the login page and selecting “Continue”, you will be redirected to the Text Message Authentication page.
Input the 6-digit one-time code sent to your phone and select Continue to finalize the login process and gain access to your account
How to Change Phone Number
Once SMS Multi-Factor Authentication is enabled, the gear icon next to the toggle button on the Security tab becomes clickable. Select the gear icon
Upon selecting the gear icon, an overlay will appear prompting you to enter your new phone number. Please input the phone number and click “Next”
Verify your phone number by entering the one-time code sent to your new phone number and clicking “Verify”
Upon successful verification of the code, a success page will appear, indicating the successful completion of the phone number update process, and your new phone number is now set up for SMS Multi-Factor Authentication. Click the “Finish” button to return to the Security tab
During your next login attempt, you will be prompted to use your new phone number to receive the one-time code, ensuring secure access to your account.
How to Resend the Code to the Phone During the Sign-In Process
After entering your email and password on the login page and selecting “Continue”, you will be redirected to the Text Message Authentication page. Simultaneously, a 6-digit one-time code is sent out to your phone. If you do not receive the text message containing the code, you can opt to resend it by selecting the "Resend code via text" link.
Upon selecting "Resend code via text", a confirmation message "New code is sent" will appear, and a new 6-digit one-time code is generated and sent out to your phone. Input the 6-digit one-time code in the designated field on the page and select Continue to finalize the login process and gain access to your account.
Note: In the event of code resending, if both the initial and new codes arrive simultaneously or within a brief time frame, it is imperative to use the latest code, as all previously generated codes will be expired.
How to Disable SMS Multi-Factor Authentication
With SMS Multi-Factor Authentication enabled, you have the option to disable it. To deactivate SMS Multi-Factor Authentication, simply toggle the button on the Security page
When you select the toggle button, an overlay window opens, prompting you to confirm your next step. If you wish to proceed with disabling SMS Multi-Factor Authentication, click the "Disable" button
After selecting the "Disable" button to confirm your choice, you will be redirected to the Security page where a success message confirms the successful completion of the operation. Both the toggle and gear buttons will be disabled as well
When Two Authentication Options are Enabled Simultaneously
You may have two authentication options enabled at a time (Authenticator App and SMS Multi-Factor Authentication)
When both options are enabled, during the login attempt, you will be prompted to choose between Authenticator App and SMS Multi-Factor Authentication on the page after entering your email, password, and selecting the "Continue" button
Complete your login process by choosing the authentication method that suits you best.
